Candle is a ritual that dates back centuries, offering a mesmerizing glow and adding a touch of elegance to any space. While the process may seem simple, there are essential considerations to ensure safety and maximize the enjoyment of your candles.
Safety should always be top propriety when using candles.
To burn your candles safety make sure to maintain visual contact with a lit candle. Extinguish all candles before leaving a room or going to bed, ensuring the ember of the wick is no longer glowing. Avoid placing a burning candle near flammable objects such as furniture, curtains, bedding, or paper materials. Keep burning candles out of reach of children and pets. Trim candlewicks to 5mm each time before lighting to prevent uneven burning and dripping. Utilize a candle holder specifically designed for candle use, ensuring it is heat resistant and sturdy enough to contain melted wax. Place the candle holder on a stable, heat-resistant surface to prevent damage and breakage. Maintain the wax pool free of wick trimmings and debris at all times. Avoid placing burning candles near drafts, vents, or air currents to prevent rapid, uneven burning and potential flare-ups. Ensure proper ventilation when burning candles, especially in small or poorly ventilated rooms. Avoid burning a candle all the way down to prevent potential hazards. Refrain from touching or moving a burning candle or container when the wax is liquid. Use caution when removing wax drippings from a glass holder to prevent damage.
Place burning candles at least 10cm apart to prevent melting or creating drafts. Use a snuffer to extinguish candles safely and prevent wax splatters. Never extinguish candles with water, as it can cause splattering and glass breakage. Exercise caution when using candles during a power outage, considering safer alternatives like flashlights. Extinguish a candle if it smokes, flickers excessively, or the flame becomes too high, then investigate and address the cause before relighting. Avoid using candles as night lights for safety reasons.
